Navarro is proud of its' tradition as a leader in sports. Bulldog teams have taken their competitive spirit to the National level in Softball, women's Soccer and Football. Women's Soccer has two Regional championships, a District Championship, and a trip to the NJCAA national Championship in only their third year of existence. Navarro Softball has amassed five Conference Championships, three Regional Championships, and three trips to the National Championship tournament. Football won the NJCAA National Championship in 1989 and have participated in thirteen post-season bowl games.
Men's basketball, volleyball, and baseball have enjoyed similar success with baseball winning nine of the past twelve conference crowns.
NC recognizes that student/athletes are students first and athletes second. Players are required to maintain passing grades to participate and to retain scholarship aid.
Navarro College competes as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Southwest Junior College Football Conference (SWJCFC), and the Region XIV Athletic Conference.
Roark Montgomery - Athletic Director
Roark Montgomery III joined the Navarro College staff in 1988. Roark lettered in golf at East Texas State University, 1972-1976. He went on to earn a Masters of Sports Administration from the University of Texas at Tyler. He was the head golf professional for Galveston Country Club, 1977-1987. Montgomery became the Director of Athletics in July of 1998. He also serves as the Assistant Regional Director for men in the Region XIV Athletic Conference. Before the Navarro College golf program was disbanded, Montgomery had five NJCAA Region XIV Championships and was voted "Coach of the Year" in 1991, 1992, 1994, 1997, and 1998. He also had six top-ten finishes at the national tournament
