NC Foundation presents the 2020 Dancing for Our Stars Dance Couples
Posted on December 12, 2019

Corsicana, TX – The Navarro College Foundation is pleased to announce the lineup for the fifth annual Dancing for Our Stars event. The six local celebrity dance couples are: (left to right) Paul and Kathy Henley, Chris and Meghan Jacinto, Dr. Erika Eeds and Daniel Owen, Mark and Christina Robinson, Whoa and Amy Dill, Alan and Shannon Eddins.

The sold-out event will be held on February 8, 2020 at the Cook Education Center. “We are excited that seating at the event has already sold out through sponsors. However, everyone can be a part of the show and support the dancers and the students by viewing the Dancing For Our Stars live feed starting at 7:30 p.m. I know that many groups are hosting Watch Parties to view the event live and cheer on their favorite dancers and we encourage you to do this”, said John Gantt, President of the Foundation and Chairman of the event. “This fundraiser is unique in that anyone and everyone in the community can have an impact and help the students with as little as a $5.00 vote through our website dfos.navarrocollege.edu”

We would like to extend a HUGE thank you to all sponsors who contribute to make this a successful and spectacular event. Sponsors for this year are as follows:

Waltz Sponsor: Community National Bank & Trust of Texas

Rumba Sponsor:, Dawson & Sodd, LLP, Navarro College Board of Trustees, Navarro Dental Center, Huffman Communications, Christina Robinson, Mr. Nick Veldman & Dr. Michelle Spears Veldman, Mr. and Mrs. Obe Veldman, and Winter’s Oil L.P.

Tango Sponsors: Cook Family, Sandra Huffman, Kenner Investments, PolyGuard, State Farm Lynda Housley, and TLH Enterprises

Salsa Sponsors: Collin Street Bakery, Corsicana Independent School District, D&M Fence Company, Navarro College District and Campus Leadership Team, First State Bank, Prosperity Bank, H-E-B, Harper Construction, LLC, McKee Lumber & True Value Hardware, Mr. & Mrs. Bill Harrison, Lott Physical Therapy, Navarro College Foundation Board of Directors, Navarro Regional Hospital, Amber & Jason Payne, and Verabank

“The event has become one of the most popular social events in Corsicana and has raised over $564,000 beginning with the first show in 2016. The 2019 performance net income was a record setting $116,000,” said Dr. Harold Housley, Executive Director of the Foundation.

“Money raised from Dancing For Our Stars is used to support students and faculty on the Corsicana Campus. Last year the Foundation awarded $475,396 in scholarships across the District. In addition, a portion of the money raised will fund Teaching Innovation Award grants for Faculty to encourage adoption of new teaching pedagogies, innovative methods of delivery that promote active learning, course redesign, and classroom technology improvements. In 2019 the Foundation Board of Directors awarded over $30,000 for Corsicana Faculty. Funds are also used to support the development of new programs and expansion of existing programs. The Foundation is extremely appreciative of the support the community has given this fundraising event,” said Dr. Housley.

The couples are receiving dance lessons at Corsicana’s “Shall We Dance” studio, with instruction from Diana Castillo and Adelaide Castillo. We thank the dancers and instructors for their commitment to this event.

Information about the dancers and the event can be found on our website DFOS.NavarroCollege.edu or you can follow us on Facebook at Dancing For Our Stars.
