NAVARRO COLLEGE ESPORTS
THE BULLDOG STORY
In early 2020, Navarro College announced the launch of their Official ESPORTS Program as its 7th NJCAA sponsored competitive collegiate team to begin for Fall semester the same year. Funds donated by the Community National Bank and Trust of Texas and the Navarro College Foundation were used to renovate two classrooms in the Computer Science Building on the Corsicana campus. Those classrooms became the Navarro ESPORTS Complex with competition rooms set up with state-of-the-art gaming equipment, shoutcast, streaming booths, and a common area where people can come and watch the competition on monitors.
Within an year, seven Navarro College ESPORTS teams were qualified to participate in the national finals in December 2021 which at the time was more than any other college in the United States. The teams that qualified were Overwatch, Valorant, Smash, Madden, Call of Duty 2v2 (two teams), and Call of Duty 4v4. The Call of Duty: Gun Fight (2v2) won the 2021 NJCAA National Championship (4-0) over Barton Community College. Overall, Navarro College ESPORTS finished the season 11-1 and ranked No. 8 in the nation.
