Timothy Williams, Class of 1976
Navarro College proudly celebrates distinguished alumnus, Timothy Williams, whose life and career reflect the lasting impact of opportunity, mentorship, and a commitment to "Be better and do better."
Williams attended Navarro College on a band scholarship, a decision that would shape both his professional path and personal growth. During his time on campus, he was influenced by mentors including Professor Nelson Ross, Band Directory Robert Whipkey, and Coach Underwood, whose leadership and support helped guide his early development.
A 1976 graduate, Williams recalls that transitioning from a small community and being away from family for the first time was overwhelming. Yet those early challenges became stepping stones toward resilience and confidence, qualities that would define his career and community leadership.
Today, Williams serves as the Houston Market Trainer of Operations for Service Corporation International, where he was worked for 18 years as part of a 38-year career in the funeral profession. Earlier in his career, he served as a Legislative Aide to then-State Representative Ron Wilson of Houston, demonstrating his commitment to public service.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Williams is most proud of his 45-year marriage to his wife, Rhonda, their three daughters, and nine grandchildren. He remains deeply engaged in his community as an active deacon at Second Baptist Church and as a Captain on the Commercial Exhibits Committee for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, where he has volunteered for 11 years.
Reflecting on his journey, Williams offers simple but powerful advice to current and future students: "Learn how to 'be better' and 'do better.' Be an asset to everyone you meet."
