Application Process & Forms
This page provides information about the application process, required forms, and admission requirements for the Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Prospective students should review all requirements carefully and submit the necessary documentation by the application deadline.
The Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) Student Handbook (PDF) contains program policies, procedures, requirements and important information for students enrolled in the MLT courses and program.
How to Apply
To apply for a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program, you'll need to submit:
-
Official transcripts for all completed coursework
Additional Program Requirements
Immunizations
The Texas Department of State Health Services requires students enrolled in health-related programs involving direct patient contact to meet specific immunization requirements.
Students accepted into the MLT program must provide documentation of required immunizations, including completion of the Hepatitis B vaccine series or acceptable proof of immunity through serologic testing.
The Hepatitis B vaccine series typically includes:
-
An initial dose
-
A second dose one month later
-
A third dose five months after the second dose.
Because the vaccination process takes several months to complete, prospective students are encouraged to begin meeting immunization requirements as early as possible.
Criminal Background Checks
Students must meet all clinical agency requirements before participating in clinical experiences. Requirements may include:
-
A negative drug screening
-
A criminal background check that meets clinical agency standards
-
Documentation of required immunization
