Steps to Apply to the Associate Degree Nursing Program
The traditional Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program is currently offered at the Navarro College-Waxahachie location.
Please follow the steps below to apply to the program.

ATI TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills)
|
The ATI TEAS is designed specifically to assess a student's preparedness entering the health science fields. Most likely, you've been asked to take the TEAS as part of your basic admissions requirements for nursing or allied health school. That's because studies show a consistent link between a student's performance on the TEAS and future academic success. *To be eligible for admission, students applying for the NC ADN program MUST achieve a total score of 66% or greater |

STEP 3
Begin Gathering Documentation Required for Admission
Upon acceptance, the following immunization records must be uploaded to Surpath prior to orientation day.
Immediately begin working on completing the following immunization requirements and/or gathering documented proof of immunizations.

Tuberculosis (TB) |
ADN students must now complete Tuberculosis (TB) blood testing (interferongamma release assay or IGRA). There are currently two FDA approved blood tests - the QuantiFERON TB Gold Plus (QFT Plus) and the T-SPOT®.TB test (T-Spot). Students who are continuously enrolled will only require one blood test and then completion of an annual TB symptom screening form. |

STEP 4
What Happens Next?
Once you have completed STEPS 1 and 2, the Associate Degree Nursing program will submit your name to the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) as a qualified applicant. The Texas Board of Nursing will submit your name to IdentoGO (fingerprinting agency). You should receive a link to register for fingerprints.
DO NOT REGISTER FOR FINGERPRINTS UNTIL YOU ARE OFFERED ADMISSION.
After completing fingerprints, the applicant should receive either a blue card OR an operations outcome letter from the Texas Board of Nursing. Faculty will meet, in order to rank all qualified applicants. Offers of admission will be emailed prior to April 1, 2026.
Admission letters will include important information regarding important next steps which will include:

Registering for Fingerprints

Submission of blue card sent to you or operations outcome letter by Texas Board of Nursing

Registration for drug screening

Proof of American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Do not complete this step before May 2025.

Proof of Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (TB) skin test.

Information regarding the MANDATORY program orientation

Verification of Social Security card

Students are required to provide proof of health insurance. If you need coverage, you can visit the EJ Smith website for more information. They offer low cost insurance options designed for nursing students.
