HEAD COACH BIO
Dylan Butler enters his first season at the helm of the Bulldog volleyball program following three successful seasons at Hill College.
In the 2023-2024 season, Butler led the Rebels to an overall record of 16-19, 9-5 in NTJCAC Conference play. The heavy freshman squad competed against many teams in the National top 16 and showed phenomenal growth through the course of the season. Butler trained two First Team All-Conference Selections, two Second Team All-Conference Selections, and one named to the Region V All-Tournament team.
In the 2022-2023 season, Butler led the Rebels to a 20-16 record, 10-4 in NTJCAC conference play, winning the Region V North Tournament title for the eleventh consecutive year. Butler trained the Region V North Player of the year, two First Team All-Conference selections, two Second Team All-Conference selections as well as Region V North Tournament MVP and two named to the All-Region V North Team. Although, one win short of the team’s ninth NJCAA National Tournament appearance, the team produced athletes that secured positions in the top five of the Hill College Volleyball All-Time Statistics leader board.
In the 2021-2022 season, Butler led the Rebels to an 11-15 finish, 10-4 in NTJCAC conference play. Despite the rocky start to the season, he rallied the team to go undefeated in the second half of conference play, going 9-0, winning the Region V North Conference Tournament and earning a bid to the 2021-2022 NJCAA National Tournament where he was named the Southwest District A coach of the year. The 16th seeded Rebels fell to the number 1 seeded team in the country in the first round. In the second round, the Rebels almost took down the number 8 team in the country but came up short in the fifth set. Coach Butler and the Rebels finished the season as one of the top 16 teams in the country. The 2021 team produced three First Team All-Conference selections, two Second Team All-Conference Selections, Region V North Newcomer of the Year and Region V North Conference Tournament MVP awards.
Prior to assuming the head coach role, Butler served as the assistant coach at Hill College for two seasons. In 2020-2021, Butler assisted the Rebels to a 14-6 overall record, a Region V North Regular Season Conference Title, and a Region V North Conference Tournament Title as well as finishing in the top 20 teams in the country. In 2019-2020, Butler assisted the Rebels to a 20-10 overall record and earned the Region V North Conference Tournament Title, earning a National Tournament Bid, and finishing the season in the top 16 teams in the country. Butler had a key role in the training of two Second Team All-American outside hitters and many First and Second Team All-Conference Selections.
Prior to Hill College, Butler was a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Dallas for the 2018-2019 season. During his time with the Crusaders, Butler assisted the team to a 20-15 overall record - which was the best season record since 2014 - and accomplished a fourth-place finish at the SCAC Conference Championship Tournament. Butler played a key role in the training of the Crusader’s First and Second Team All-Americans and the SCAC First Team All-Conference Selection.
Prior to Butler’s stint at the University of Dallas, he served as an undergraduate assistant at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) for two seasons under head coach Edgar Miraku, where he helped UCO finish with an overall record of 31-5 in 2015, and 30-4 in 2016.
Butler also served as an undergraduate assistant at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith (UAFS) under head coach Jane Sargent, where he helped UAFS finish with an overall record of 27-8 in 2011.
Butler played collegiately at Park University in Kansas City, MO, where he was a member of the NAIA National Invitational Championship team in 2014.
