Dual Credit Student Information
As a Dual Credit student, you are enrolled in college courses and are expected to follow Navarro College policies and procedures. The information below outlines important expectations, student responsibilities, and resources to help you successfully navigate your college experience.
Attendance
Faculty will discuss the course attendance policy at the beginning of each semester. However, students are responsible for reviewing the course syllabus and outline of each class and knowing the attendance requirements for the course. Students who do not attend class will be dropped from the course.
A student’s request for an excused absence should be emailed to the instructor of each class. Students may also contact the Dual Credit Office for guidance. Students should refer to the Navarro College Student Handbook for additional information.
Self-Service
Self-Service is the student portal where students can track, edit, and maintain their student records, pay tuition and fees, request transcripts, and complete required forms.
Canvas
Canvas is the learning management system students use to complete their coursework, view grades, participate in class discussions, and communicate with their instructors.
Grades and Grade Point Average (GPA)
The College does not mail student grade reports. Students can log into Canvas to view grades throughout the semester and access final grades through their Self-Service account after the semester ends.
All students enrolled in college-level coursework at Navarro College, including those enrolled in the Dual Credit program, earn a GPA and college credit. These records may be required when applying to other colleges or universities.
Adding and Dropping Classes (Schedule Changes)
Dual Credit students are not permitted to make changes to their schedules on their own. To request a schedule change, students must have their high school counselor email the appropriate Dual Credit Coordinator. The Dual Credit Coordinator will process approved changes.
College Transcripts
A college transcript is the official record of courses completed and grades earned at Navarro College. Students who plan to transfer to another institution or whose high school requires an official transcript are responsible for requesting one.
Transcript requests can be submitted through the student's Self-Service account.
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA):
Although many Dual Credit students are minors, federal law requires the College to treat them as college students for educational records purposes. Through the Dual Credit Enrollment Form, students authorize Dual Credit staff to discuss academic information with their parents or guardians and high school counselors.
