Department Chair, Department of Visual Arts | Associate Professor

Ms. Laura Briseno, MFA, has been a member of the Navarro College faculty since 2019. She teaches a wide range of courses, including:

  • Art History

  • Design

  • Drawing

  • Painting

  • Sculpture

  • Ceramics

  • Photography

 

Professional Experience

Between receiving her degrees, Brisneo has traveled and worked as a wardrobe attendant and craft technician for:

  • Cirque Du Soleil (Los Angeles and Las Vegas)

  • Franco Dragone (Macau, China)

Her teaching experience includes positions at:

  • University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley

  • Idea Public Schools (Alama College Prep)

 

Artistic Focus

Ms. Briseno's artwork explores historical, social, and cultural representations of diverse subjects, primarily through textile art. She has exhibited her work in both solo and groups nationally.

 

Education

  • Bachelor of  Arts in Fashion Design, University of the Incarnate Word

  • Masters of Fine Arts in Studio Art, University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley.

  • Ph.D student, University of the Incarnate Word
