About Dr. Rebecca Tuerk
“I grew up in Commerce, Texas and attended Texas A&M University-Commerce where I earned my Bachelor of Social Work degree in 1994. I spent the first part of my professional career serving as a licensed social worker in a variety of medical settings. As soon as I had the opportunity to further my education, I attended Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi and earned my Master of Education in Elementary Education in 2003. I spent the next phase of my professional career in both elementary and secondary schools as a classroom educator and an administrator. After spending 10 years in the K-12 environment, I was offered the opportunity to serve as the Director of Student Disability Resources and Services at Texas A&M University-Commerce where I spent the last eight years. While serving as the Director of Student Disability Resources and Services, I completed my Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership at Texas A&M University-Commerce in Commerce, Texas. Currently, I am honored and fortunate to be serving as the Dean of Students at Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas.
At NC, I am most excited about the students, and the opportunities I will have to
positively impact their lives! Secondly, I am extremely excited about being part of
the amazingly dedicated Student Services Team! Lastly, I am excited about being part
of the Navarro Family! My first impression of NC is that the culture is overwhelmingly positive, welcoming
and supportive. I already feel extremely comfortable, and that I am truly part of
the NC Family! GO Bulldogs!
Professionally, I am most proud of being able to spend my career serving others to
provide support, educational opportunities, guidance, leadership and knowledge. Although
I have earned awards, I am most grateful for the opportunities I have had to help
others overcome challenges to continue on their path to success. Personally, I am
proudest of my two little fur-babies, Buddy and Boomer.”
