EMT PROGRAM ADMISSION
Program Enrollment Requirements
Navarro College EMS programs meet the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) and The National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) requirements for certification eligibility. Upon successful completion of the EMT certificate program or the Paramedic program (certificate or A.A.S. degree), students must be eligible for TDSHS’s required National Registry of EMT/Paramedic certification examination.

Criminal Background check |
Students must make an account with CastleBranch (outside entity). The cost for an EMT Account is approximately $80-$90. This is where you will schedule your background check and drug test as well as send to them all of the required documents.

Registration must be completed with the Fire/EMS Department on the Waxahachie Campus, Building D. Students are encouraged to contact this office as soon as possible for full registration requirements including obtaining enrollment paperwork.Call: (972) 923-6447NOTE: CPR card is required by 1st day of class. Must be American Heart Healthcare Provider.

An applicant convicted of a felony and/or misdemeanor offense may or may not be eligible for participation and/or state certification. Any applicant who has a drug screening returned as questionable or positive, must follow the program’s policy of speaking with a Medical Review Officer and may or may not be dismissed from the program.

The Texas Administrative Code (TAC) and Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council Foundation Community Standards Listen require that all students in health-related programs complete the following immunizations before applying to programs where patient contact is a component.B. If you know you will be registering for our Emergency Medical Technician program within the next year, you will need to start these now because some will take up to 7 months to complete the series.C. In order to be eligible to apply, you will need to have proof that you have completed the following immunizations:- Hepatitis B* (3 series)- Tetanus, Diphtheria & Pertussis (TDaP) – within last 5 years not to expire during the program- Rubeola/Measles, Mumps, Rubella/German Measles (MMR)*- Varicella* (2 series)- Influenza (flu shot), current seasonD. *Notes: Titers showing positive immunity to the diseases will be acceptable. Record must display IgG and lab values and rangesE. Tuberculosis Skin Test (Chest x-ray when positive skin test) or Quantiferon Tb Gold Test

Post-Registration Requirements |
1. You will need to be prepared to meet the following additional requirements – before the first day of class – if you are accepted to the EMS program:
A. CPR Certification (American Heart Association Healthcare Provider)
B. Physical Exam
C. Criminal Background Check
D. Health Insurance
2. You will learn more about these requirements after you have successfully registered
for the current semester and you have received your EMS packet. Mandatory orientation
dates are provided in the EMS packet after registering with a program.
3. Drug Screenings include urine and/or hair follicle samples.
