EMT PROGRAM ADMISSION
Program Enrollment Requirements
Navarro College Emergency Medical Services (EMS) programs meet the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) and The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) requirements for certification eligibility. Upon successful completion of the EMT certificate program or the Paramedic program (certificate or Associate of Applied Science degree), students must be eligible for TDSHS’s required National Registry of EMT/Paramedic certification examination.

Criminal Background check |
Students must make an account with CastleBranch (outside entity), which includes your background check and immunization compliance tracker. Drug screening occurs after courses have begun. Non-compliance with either may result in student being dropped.

Registration must be completed with the EMS Department trough the Academic Advisors at the Navarro College-Waxahachie location. Students are encouraged to frequently contact their Academic Advisors for progress in the registration process. NOTE: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) card is required by 1st day of class. Must be American Heart Healthcare Provider. This course is offered at Navarro College through registration sign-ups on the Continuing Education Department website or by phone (972) 923-6441.

1. Provide your Navarro College Identification (ID) number after you apply for admission. 2. Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirements 3. Immunizations (see information below regarding immunizations) Immunizations A. The Texas Administrative Code (TAC) and Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council Foundation Community Standards Listen require that all students in health-related programs complete the following immunizations before applying to programs where patient contact is a component. B. If you know you will be registering for our Emergency Medical Technician program within the next year, you will need to start these now because some will take up to 7 months to complete the series. C. In order to be eligible to apply, you will need to have proof that you have completed the following immunizations:- Hepatitis B* (3 series)- Tetanus, Diphtheria & Pertussis (TDaP) – within last 5 years - Rubeola/Measles, Mumps, Rubella/German Measles (MMR)* (2 series)- Varicella* (2 series)- Influenza (flu shot), current season for Fall and Spring classes (Info. required: name, date, lot number, site of injection, signature of person administering the vaccine). D. *Notes: Titers showing positive immunity to the diseases will be acceptable. Record must display Immunoglobulin G (IgG) and lab values and ranges E. Tuberculosis Skin Test (Chest x-ray when positive skin test) or QuantiFERON-TB Gold (QFT-G) test F. Medical Release - Form is included in the registration packet.

Post-Registration Requirements |
A. CPR Certification (American Heart Association Healthcare Provider) 2. You will learn more about these requirements after you have successfully registered
for the current semester and you have received your EMS packet. Mandatory orientation
dates are provided in the EMS packet after registering with a program.
