The two-year, 66-hour curriculum in physical therapy leads to an Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS PTA). The program helps prepare the graduate to take the national certification examination provided by the Federation of State Board of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) to become a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). Graduates must also meet licensure requirements as mandated by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners (TBPTE) or the state in which licensure is sought. The physical therapist assistant curriculum includes on-campus coursework and clinical experiences in traditional and nontraditional physical therapy settings.
