REQUEST INFO
Please use the form below to get more information about Navarro College. A member of our Recruiting staff will be in touch with you shortly. We hope to assist you in any way that we can.
LVN to RN Bridge Option
Thank you for your interest in the LVN-to-RN Bridge program at Navarro College. We are committed to promoting the best possible educational experience for our students. Navarro College nursing faculty have evidence-based practices, attend annual nursing education training, and comply with nationally recognized professional and ethical standards. We are proud of our high student and customer satisfaction scores.
The Bridge entry is based on a curriculum with summer bridge or transition courses that allow LVNs (Licensed Vocational Nurses) to “bridge” the gap between Vocational Nursing Education and the second year of the Associate Degree Nursing Program. This one-year curriculum completes the 60 hours required for an Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS ADN-Bridge). Bridge applicants must have a current LVN license. It is required that applicants have 6+ months work in the role of LVN (does not have to be full time). Applications to the program are available online. Prospective LVN-to-RN Bridge applicants must meet all general program admission requirements including attendance at a program information session.
Program Approval and Accreditation
The Associate Degree Nursing Program at Navarro College is accredited by The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN) and approved by the Texas Board of Nursing (BON).
Initial national accreditation was granted in 1996. The program has maintained national accreditation since that date. The last ACEN site visit was a scheduled 8th year visit in the spring of 2017. Currently, the program is in compliance with all Accreditation Standards and Criteria and has been granted continued accreditation. The next accreditation review is scheduled to take place in Spring 2025.

NOTICE TO STUDENTS REGARDING LICENSING (HB 1508) |
Effective September 1st 2017, HB 1508 amends the Texas Occupations Code Section 53 that requires education providers to notify you a potential or enrolled student that a criminal history may make you ineligible for an occupational license upon program completion. The following website provides links to information about the licensing process and requirements https://www.bon.texas.gov/licensure_eligibility.asp.html Any nursing applicant who has been arrested, convicted of a crime other than a minor traffic violation, diagnosed with, treated, or hospitalized in the past five years for schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder, paranoid personality disorder, antisocial personality disorder, or borderline personality disorder, or addicted to or treated for the use of alcohol or any other drug within the past five years, must petition the Texas Board of Nursing for a declaratory order concerning their eligibility to take the licensing examination, the NCLEX-RN. The application for a declaratory order can be downloaded from the BON website at https://www.bon.texas.gov/forms_declaratory_order.asp. This declaratory order must be completed and the eligibility letter received before the student starts nursing courses. If the case must be sent to the enforcement division, the processing may take up to 24 months. This information is being provided to all persons who apply or enroll in the program with notice of the requirements as described above, regardless of whether or not the person has been convicted of a criminal offense. Additionally, HB 1508 authorizes licensing agencies to require reimbursements when a student fails to receive the required notice. |
