Program Admission Requirements
Students must meet all eligibility requirements of Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) and the Navarro College Police Academy Advisory Board to enroll.
Age Requirements
1. Students must be 21 years of age, or 21 years of age by the graduation date of the Academy; or
2. Student is 18 years of age or older and is eligible for licensing if the student:

Has received an Associate’s Degree; or 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university; or
-
Has received an Honorable Discharge from the Armed Forces of the United States after at least two (2) years of service

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Apply for admission to Navarro College by following the steps provided under the "Admission” section on the Navarro College website. All steps must be completed to finalize your admission.

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Must be 21 years of age, or 21 years of age by the graduation date of the Academy.

A student 18 years of age or older is eligible for licensing if the student: Has received an Associate’s Degree; or 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university; or Has received an Honorable Discharge from the Armed Forces of the United States after at least two (2) years of service.

No Class B Misdemeanor convictions in the past 10 years.

No Class A Misdemeanor or felony convictions.

No conviction or community supervision for any family violence offense.

Applicants must pass a physical examination, a psychological examination and a drug screen immediately submitted to the Academy upon completion.

High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) is required
-
Must not be prohibited by law from operating a motor vehicle.
-
Must not be prohibited by state or federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition.
-
You cannot have a dishonorable discharge from the military.
Completed Application with Supporting Documents
Candidate’s application should include:

Completed Navarro College Police Academy Application.
-
Completed Personal History Statement.
-
Provide Academy Staff with printed copy Department of Public Safety Driving Record Type 3.
-
Provide Academy Staff with printed copy of Department of Public Safety Criminal History Records Check.
-
Fingerprint Applicant Services of Texas (FAST) Fingerprint submission.
-
TCOLE Medical Condition Declaration (L-2) Form with drug results and L-2 Notice of Duties Form.

TCOLE Licensee Psychological and Emotional Health Declaration (L-3) Form and L-3 Notice of Duties Form.

Color copy of Driver’s License .
-
Color copy of Social Security card .
-
Copy of High School Transcript / Diploma or proof of GED.

Copy of Military discharge documentation such as the Department of Defense Form 214 (DD Form 214), if applicable.

Copy of Texas Success Initiative (TSI) exam scores, if applicable. Exemptions include DD Form 214, prior TSI complete or College Degree.

Copy of Birth Certificate / U.S. Passport or documentation showing U.S. Citizenship.

Copy of Automobile Liabilty Insurance card.

Signed copy of Police Academy Handbook (signature/acknowledgment page only).
