      Program Admission Requirements


      Students must meet all eligibility requirements of TCOLE and the Navarro College Police Academy Advisory Board to enroll.

      Age Requirements

      1. Students must be 21 years of age, or 21 years of age by the graduation date of the Academy; or

      2. Student is 18 years of age or older and is eligible for licensing if the student:

      • Has received an Associate’s Degree; or 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university; or
      • Has received an Honorable Discharge from the Armed Forces of the United States after at least two (2) years of service

       


      Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)

      Admission Requirements

      Apply at www.navarrocollege.edu/admissions

      Additional information is available online under the “Admission” tab on NC’s webpage. You must complete all steps to be admitted.

      • Must be a U.S. Citizen
      • Must be 21 years of age, or 21 years of age by the graduation date of the Academy
      • A student 18 years of age or older is eligible for licensing if the student:
        • Has received an Associate’s Degree; or 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university; or
        • Has received an Honorable Discharge from the Armed Forces of the United States after at least two (2) years of service
      • No Class B Misdemeanor convictions in the past 10 years.
      • No Class A Misdemeanor or felony convictions.
      • No conviction or community supervision for any family violence offense.
      • Applicants must pass a physical examination, a psychological examination and a drug screen immediately submitted to the Academy upon completion.
      • High School diploma or GED is required
      • Must not be prohibited by law from operating a motor vehicle.
      • Must not be prohibited by state or federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition.
      • You cannot have a dishonorable discharge from the military.
       

      Completed Application with Supporting Documents

      Candidate’s application should include:

      • Completed Navarro College Police Academy Application
      • FAST Fingerprint submission
        • TCOLE L-2 Form (with drug results) and L-2 Notice of Duties Form
        • TCOLE L-3 Form and L-3 Notice of Duties Form
      • Color copy of Driver’s License 
        • Copy of Social Security card (front and back)
      • Copy of High School Transcript / Diploma or proof of GED
      • Copy of Military DD214 (if applicable)
      • Copy of TSI exam scores
        • Copy of Birth Certificate / U.S. Passport or documentation showing U.S. Citizenship
      • Completed Personal History Statement

       

      Attend BPOC Orientation

      Prior to the start of all BPOC programs, there will be a mandatory orientation for all incoming cadets. Meetings usually take place on the Corsicana Campus in Bain Center (BC) 400. Date of orientation TBA.

      During the orientation, you will learn much more about the TCOLE rules overview, TCOLE rules test, NC Police Academy policy and procedures, staff introductions, and TCOLE PID# assignments. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions.

      Cadets selected to attend, should arrive on time and plan to spend several hours at the orientation. Appropriate business attire (slacks, shirt and tie for men and slacks, pantsuit, or dress for women) is expected. Please do not arrive in casual attire such as shorts or jeans as you will not be admitted.
